need help with fish medication dosage.

so i got my little brother a fish for his birthday a while back and its been at least 2 months now since we have had him.

the fish has fin rot and yesterday we bought some FURAN-2 the 10 packet which this whole package treats up to 100 gallons. the direction say:
-one packet which is 85mg nitrofurazone is for 10 gallons of water.
-repeat dose after 24 hrs
-wait 24 then change 25% of aquarium water
- repeat this treatment for a second time, for a total of 4 doses
-25% water change and add fresh water filter media

i only have a 1 1/2 quart tank which is 0.375 gallons. a bit small for the amount of medication i have. so i dont want to mess up the dosage in the little guys tank so it would help if i knew the exact amount to put in the tank. thanks

Actually you don't need medication for fin rot and Furan-2 will do nothing for it honestly. What you need to do is start doing daily water changes with water conditioner of course, with a container that small you should be doing daily water changes anyway.

If you want to save you some troubles, you should invest in something that is at least 1 gallon if not 3, that means less ammonia will build up to poison your fish. Ammonia can build up very quickly, a matter of sometimes one a few day's and in a container that small, it will take maybe a day to get to poisonous levels.

That is going to be tough to dose, IMO. I think rather than use the meds your brother needs to look at what caused the fin rot & correct that. Most fin rot will clear up with more frequent water changes & some people add some pre-dissolved aq salt. The "tank" your brother's fish is in is rather small & requires a water change at the least every other day. If he's already doing this then great. Also, what is the water temp of the tank? If the temp is too low this can cause health issues as well. If you really want to go with the meds then I'd suggest getting a container (rubbermaid, kritter keeper, anything) that is at least 1g to be able to better dose the meds.

the water has been changed frequently, and it is at room temperature which is between 21+ celsius. so im guessing at some point today im to pick up a water heater then lol. also the fin has receded back a bit too far(even with cleaning water for hopes of getting better) and the meds was to help cure some unknown issues if any and as well as fin issues. so im going to need water softener, aqua salt or something close to(recommend?) if i cant manage to get out to grab the stuff. and a bigger tank. anything else i might be missing?

There's no reason to treat a fish for something he doesn't have, I'm not accusing you or anyone of anything but he wouldn't have gotten fin rot if the proper care was taken is all.

You can help him definitely by getting a heater, you want it around 78-80 degree's which I think is roughly 25-26 celcius. I suggest getting an adjustable one if you can since it's just going to be so much easier for you and much healthier for your fish

And then, if you can, start doing daily 100% water changes which involves you taking him out in a cup that's never seen soap and then dumping all his old water, getting new water and making sure it's around the same temp;26 C. And then acclimate him to the new water after you've put your water conditioner in.

You don't need aquarium salt either, that does nothing to actually help fin rot and it's just the daily water changes that will help him, trust me I've tried both and the one with salt didn't do better at all, if anything he healed slower. But again, that's just my experiences.

Really? As an antimicrobial I would expect it work for fin rot, particularly since it appears to be broader-spectrum, and does target gram-negative, which I've read is responsible for most cases of fin rot.
Maybe I am wrong about this?

Well I'm sure it does but it's completely not necessary for this case, sorry I know I word things weirdly sometimes and it never comes out right
