Also I just assume the tank is the right temp for right now. :s I got a 10 gallon tank in my bedroom and that doesnt have a heater in it either but has a temp gauge on it and the water feels the same in Scarlets tank like it does in my 10 gallon tetras tank which reads like 76 degres.

Do yourself and your new fishy boy and get yourself a bigger tank (2.5 gallons is ideal), a thermometer and a heater. 76 is an okay temp, but it needs to be consistant and not drop too much at night.

Your boy will become MUCH more active in a bigger tank with warmer water. 78-80F is where I like to keep my tanks :-D

He is beautiful!

When I get more money I do plan on getting him a bigger tank which should only be a couple weeks still this beats him living in a little tiny pet store cup. Also I heard not to change all the water thats hard to do cause if they like still water the water is going to get yuky if u dont change it all at once and if i use the gravel vaccum it will probably suck all the water outta the tank anyways.

This is what the box looks like to the temp tank i bought him:

This is what I would like to get him:

I unplugged the airpump took the airstone out and he unclamped his fin. lol How often should I feed him? He is just a baby thats why I got him in a smaller tank too. pet store had them 50% off and I felt bad for him in a little bitty cup of water.

Glad he is happy with the air stone off! :-D

Depending on the size of your pellets, 3-4 pellets 2x a day for small pellets. Large pellets you can feed less, just make sure you chop them up if they are too big for your little guy to eat. Their tummies are only about as big as their eye so don't feed them more than they can hold

Another thing. Why would you purchase a Betta if you aren't able to provide the optimal living conditions in the first place, I understand this is temperary, but you still should have a tank ready with a heater for him, and getting money is sorta like a wild card, there is no guarenteed date to get any money. An easy buy would even be a storage container that is 2.5 gallons+l also, even if the water feels the same. It could be too low as my 65 degree tank feels the same as my 72 degree tank.

I have a one gallon hexagon tank but its ugly looking. its missing the tip black rim that holds the plastic tank top on the hood for the light sits on still but not the plastic cover thats soposed to cover the whole top of the tank. My husband said he could rig up a way for the lid to sit on there but the tank is still ugly looking let me post a pic of it u will see what I mean. I get paid weekly at my job so I know ill have money for a better tank. Still what he is in is better than that stupid little pet store cup.
