How old is your fish (approximately)? I have had her 2 years
I just put her back in as today was 100% water changing day. This is the first I have noticed it. She appeared to eat just fine as I also just fed her. Acclimated her as usual. Could she be eggy? I had her next to one of my males tanks. I don't normally do that. He totally ignored her though. It doesn't seem normal as I keep another female in a divided 10g with two other boys so I am thinking that isn't the problem.
It sounds like she has swim buoyancy. My Rosanna (the middle betta on my avatar) had it and she was just like that. I found out that she had been eating bubbles and it threw off her swim bladder. By the next day she was fine. I didn't have to do anything.
Well just as a forwarning, How big are the pellets? Are they as large as the bettas eye? or are they smaller? She might have been bloated if the pellets where too big and swelled in her tummy.
I might cut it back to 3 pellets twice daily if even that, Most brands of betta food tend to be pretty large pellets. Sometimes you have to remember, a bettas stomach is only as big as its eye.
I have had this betta 2 years and have been feeding her the same pellets since the day I got her. So it wasn't the pellets. That and the pellets are pretty tiny. Thanks for the warning though.
