my new CT Grimmjow has some trouble eating. he always lunges a bit too short or off to the side. the micro pellets disperse quickly but he still has trouble getting the pellets in his mouth. i think he's either short sighted or partially blind. is it normal for new betta to lunge short of food? ive had him for only 3 days and i have tried dropping the food 3mm away from him.

My HMPK, Fern, does the same thing... I think he is partially blind. What I do is tap the water with my finger, and when he comes up near the surface I drop the food in. I also use micro pellets (Omega One). He usually ends up finding a few, I also removed all substrate so he can get them off the bottom if he wants :)

Goblin misses pellets all the time, he gets a little overexcited. I usually just end up pointing them out if he doesn't notice them. :)
I use the larger pellets too, the topfin pellets are pretty big and they're hard to miss.
