What do you think may be causing this lump?

I posted quite a few months ago when my betta was having other problems,
but didn't get any replies.. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! :question:
My bettas health has always been questionable, he's been sickly looking since
I brought him home from the store.. but now my concern is the lump on the
outside of his head, right above his eye. I'll post some pics.


What size is your tank?
5 gallon
What temperature is your tank?
79 F
Does your tank have a filter?
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration?
Is your tank heated?
What tank mates does your betta fish live with?

What type of food do you feed your betta fish?
various types of pellets and dried bloodworms/shrimp
How often do you feed your betta fish?
once a day 3-4 pellets + sometimes 1-2 bloodworms

How often do you perform a water change?
I do a large change bi-weekly, and small ones in between
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change?
25% every few days and 70-90% bi-weekly
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change?
API Stress Coat+, Nutrafin Aqua Plus and sometimes API Aquarium Salt

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed?
colour loss & gain, lump has gotten bigger
How has your betta fish's behavior changed?
hasn't seemed to change from the lump
When did you start noticing the symptoms?
1-2 months ago
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how?

Does your fish have any history of being ill?
How old is your fish (approximately)?

I'm sorry I wont be much help in this because I do not know but it looks kind of like fluid build up.

Also what is the PH of your water?...with the water changes maybe it's a bit off for what he likes? As for the AQ salts make sure you don't have too much in there and not to use it for more then 10-days.

It could be a tumor. You're talking about the lump over his eye, correct?

I don't know anything about treating, if there is a treatment for fish tumors. From what I've read around the forum, the most you can do is keep them comfortable and well cared for. It seems like you have that done well, although I would recommend a filter for your tank just to help you with all those water changes and to get a cycle going.
