Possible Bubblenest?

541 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Beall
Okay... So one of my guys tanks now has bubbles lining the top of the water, on the sides of the tanks. Ive been observing him as close as I can (Between doing water changes, putting my two year old to bed, dinner, dishes,, etc), but I think Im missing it if it is in fact a bubblenest. or, is there another cause of bubbles lining the top of the water?

Filter that is airating the water? Are you breeding him or something? If not, not sure why you posted in the breeding section lol. If it is bubbles that are stuck together than it is a bubble nest.
I wasnt quite sure where else to post it. And no, he is just store bought. I am planning on some breeding, but not soon. I still have plenty I want to learn before I start. Trying to understand genetics at the moment. And I want to buy a good Breeder Halfmoon pair. Was only curious so I can make note of my observation. They are allll stuck together. from halfway down one side, the 90 degree corner, and halway down the next side.

If you don't give him a styro or indian almond leaf to build the nest under, it is not unusual to have bubbles kinda all over the place.:)
It is possible. My plakat from Petsmart was only home for a couple days before he started on his nest. So I think it is quite possible it is a nest. Do you have any type of filter that creates bubbles? Usually the bubbles will be like a mm or less. My guy builds underneath the floating plants.
it is not a filtered tank. I enjoy doing my water changes with this one. Makes me feel closer to him lol. Im weird like that. He was a little beat up when i got him. the bubbles are about a mm or so. very small. no bubble pump or nothing. its a still tank you could say.
I had a crowntail that used to do that. It's sort of like the "frame" to their nest. Soon he will be building outwards towards the middle of the tank. It's good he dreams BIG. Heehee
Lol. :) As I stated, Breeding him is out of the question for me as he is store bought, Was just curious what I am experiencing :) Im a nosey person. lol.
It's good you're learning as much as you can. It drives me crazy when I see questions like "what should I feed my betta fry that just hatched?" I mean... REALLY?!? You couldn't have figured that out before, you dipthong. lol. How many bettas do you currently have?
currently, 6 bettas. My yellow is my favorite. All are store bought. Figured the more I had, the more experience I would get with different situations. I have other fishies too thhough :) I like to learn as much as I can before I start something. My fiance used to breed bettas, but I dont trust her >:) so im learning on my own muahaha
