I have a few questions :
I'm having a problem with high alkalinity and high pH. I've doney weekly water changes /gravel cleaning. I've added a chemical to help lower pH and nothing seems to be helping. Any suggestions?

Can either of these be causing a large fish loss?

I fear that my 2 loaches may be dead. I haven't seen them in several days. They usually come out of the gravel when I clean the tank and they didn't do that on Saturday. Any suggestions on that? (if they died I'm thinkingy Pleco could have eaten them)

Also, if someone could identify the silver fish pictured please. I bought some neon Tetras from a local, privately owned, fish store in December. This type of fish was in the seat tank as the Tetras. One slipped in the net with the Tetras and the fish store worker just left him in.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I need to gety tank back under control. I recently had a MASS fish loss. I have a 50 gallon tank and am left with 6 fish. It's driving me crazy.

You can use RO water to lower pH and KH. Some people mix RO water and tap. Others use 100% RO water but they have to remineralize before poring in tanks. LFS (not chain ones but an individually owned fish dedicated store) should sell RO water.
I've never used RO, so I can't explain details. You can google more for details or talk to employee at LFS (again, not chain ones).

Tetras and loaches usually prefer pH on the low side. There are some fish that prefer higher pH. I guess you will be able to have better luck with them.

Good luck!
