I am going to be 100% truthful and say I have not been a good owner. Recently about a few months ago I took in my brothers beta fish as he could not care for it anymore. The beta fish lives in a 10gal tank and has plants, decor, a light, and had a moss ball too until I had to trash it. However, I did not run a filter since the filter was too harsh for the little fish. I should have known to. The tank overtime got pretty dirty but I could never find time to truly clean it and about yesterday I looked in the tank and found the fish “dead” in the back. I was upset but realized there was no one to blame but myself. Today, I went to go clean out the fish tank and while doing so, the fish begins moving. I panic and immediately get a small tupperware with some warm water and put the fish in it.
I cleaned out the tank fully, washing all the decor and plants and now have the fish ( in the tupperware it was in before ) adjusting to warmth. I believe that this is possibly due to how cold and dirty the tank had gotten before, but I have placed it in the new clean tank with warm water.
However, the fish has still not moved.
Trust me, I 110% feel entirely guilty and know it was my fault. I was not in the best mental state for a while and should have known I could not take care of the fish.
However, I just need help on how to help the fish and make it okay again.
I’m doing much better now and from now on will take much much much better care of the fish AND the tank.
