I got Sam in July of 2017 as a "baby boy" at PetCo and is the first fish I ever fell in love with.

He developed a lump in April but was still in good spirits for a few months. This summer he got tired and spent a lot of time resting, however, he was still eager to eat so I figured he must be feeling ok. The past week, he's struggled a lot to move at all and I've had to feed his pellets directly over him so that they would fall to him.

This isn't a life to live, so I let him go today. I keep wondering if I should've done it sooner. But I'm glad he's not longer in pain. <3

Sorry for your loss today :-(

Hi there, it's good that you had your Betta for 2 years and 4 months. All that time, I am sure he was the happiest fish around and he was also so gorgeous. Unfortunately my 3 month old male (bijou) died overnight. We just couldn't find him. Long story short, he was obviously sick but showing no symptoms and he passed during the night and then the really large mystery snail (you can see my pix) ate the remains of him...So yeah many tears today...I will not be getting another betta fish until mid January and i will choose a very small female next time. Once, again, my sincere condolences to you xoxox From, Dehlia

I'm sorry to hear about Bijou! How sad that you can't pay your respects to him how you wanted. :( I love my snail, but I would be so heartbroken if he did that.

I was going to take some time off before getting another betta but it's so hard! I don't know if I can wait until mid January! However, I am about to get married and leave for my honeymoon for a week. Maybe I should wait until I get back from the honeymoon before getting another. Heh. =\
