HelloI need some help with my ryukin goldie Boo. A few months ago he/she started developing a very sensitive tummy. Now he/she cant even eat dry food if it's soaked without floating upside down bobbing at the top of the tank. Lately I have been feeding them mostly boiled broccoli and that has fixed it for the most part ( his tank mate is another ryukin named Ru ) they get a bit of fruit sometimes. they get a few other veggies if we have any but mostly broccoli. I don't think it's the best diet for them though?

Question 1 : Any food ideas?

Question 2 : what should I do for protean?

How old are they roughly? Or at least how long have you had them and how big where they when you got them?

You can use other veggies too like Peas, those are always good to help the digestive track running. My friend alternates with NLS Goldfish and Peas and her Pearlscales have been great thus far! Oh and Romaine Lettuce, Squash, lots of squash, zucchini, those are good for calcium.

well when I got them they definitely were not babies [got them because they were big] Have had Ru for maybe... 4 years? Boo 3 years. Ru was about 2.5 inches and Boo maybe 2. just guessing I never really measured them. Oh I bet they would like squash yea :] I swear to god Boo is a PICKY goldfish... that should not be a thing... he hates carrots, pomegranate and just half the things I put in there. I will try those yeah thank you

I believe it might be possible to avoid pellet foods if you're careful! I try and do that as much as possibly for my goldies. I'll give them pretty much any vegetable as long as they are physically able to eat it (some veggies like cucumber are hard to get a bite out of) and supplement their protein (because my guys are younger and need it more than perhaps your older fish) with frozen blood worms.
You can also make your own gel foods so you know exactly what they are getting. This idea is popular but a lot of people worry about their fish getting the right balance of nutrition, so variety is key if you go that route.

Yes I was going to note the age thing. As far as I'm aware, they only need lots of protein in the first year or so and them you can back off from there. So as long as you throw some protein in Evey now and then, you should be just fine ^^
