I was at Petsmart the other day looking for some tetras. I finally found what I was looking for and asked the employee to please scoop 3 out (I was adding them to my school.) She put the net in and successfully caught 3 tetras and 1 other skittish, pink fish. It was trashing around and I felt so bad that I wanted to get it but fought the urge. The employee put the tetras in the plastic bag and the pink fish back in the tank. The pink fish was so shocked, it looked dead (belly-up) but it's gills were still moving. It didn't even realize the employee pick it up!!!!:| The employee then put food in the tank to see if it would react and I almost screamed at her "Put the poor fishie in a separate tank!!!! Its fins are getting nipped at!!!" To bad she didn't realize the anger boil up in me! I quickly took the bag and left, not wanting to see the shocked fishie wake up and wonder what the heck happened. Has this similar thing happened to any of you? It happened to my neighbor's Betta. (She was a newbie and had no clue how to make it survive the car trip after being dropped on the ground and terribly shocked.) The beautiful red Betta died a few days later.
