I have my betta fish Flame in a 2 gallon bowl, heated, and he seems happy. I was curious what's the max Size of tank you should keep a betta in? I want flame to be the happiest he can be and I will upgrade to a bigger tank if it would make a difference.

It really depends on you!
They can live in anything from 1-1.5 gals up to however big you want. My one Betta, Sparks, was VERY happy in his 1 gallon cube. But my guy Dragonfly was tail biting in his 2 gallon tank, so I upgraded him to a 5 gallon and now he is way more active and not tail biting! :-D

2 gallons is fine for a betta to live a long life, nothing will substitute water quality and healthy foods.
Most aquarists go with a larger setup because they have the physical room to do so. Larger volume of water also allows the closed system to cycle properly reducing the need for periodic daily maintenance. In addition we can add live plants and ornaments freely without the feeling of being hog tied due to the small space limitations.

Two gallons is enough to keep them healthy and happy.. it's more about the water changes and food over size of tank. Some bettas prefer smaller tanks and if in larger tanks will overly stress out. And some bettas do fine in larger tanks.
It depends on how much money you are wanting to spend, space you have and commitment on care.

There really is no maximum size. It depends on what your fish is comfortable with. Some freak out in more than a gallon. Others freak out in less than 5. My girls would whinge if they were in less than their 16 gallon (I'm upgrading them to 23 gallons soon).

Its totally up to the betta!!! soem bettas like big anks others dont. id say for a betta 10 gallons is plenty!!!

My bettas have been happy in 5 and 10 gallons. I've seen as much as 20g for one guy. There isn't a max, but I guess some bettas are nervous in bigger containers.. never seen it myself. The big benefit to larger sizes are you don't have to change the water as often and you can even cycle them. Much easier to keep your fish healthy and stress free.
