I've been thinking about maybe getting a tankmate for my guy Comet. He lives in a 25 liter (6.6 gallon) long aquarium. I was considering maybe some kind of snail, preferably one that likes to eat algae but NOT live plants!

Is there a type you would recommend? I know that one of my local pet stores has a type called 'Mystery Snail" but I know nothing about them.

I also don't want one that is a poop machine! So, if all snails are poop machines I'll just forget it. :p

Anyway, what do you snail experts think? Oh, and my pH is usually 7.6-7.8 so it should be high enough not to harm snail shells.

Thank you!

Nerites are the best for algae. Snails tend to be pretty poopy, but a nerite should earn his keep and be fine for that tank.
