I have a little female who's had stress stripes since i got her. After doing my water change today i looked and noticed that in the20 min. it took me to clean their tank and change their water they had gone!! is it unusual for them to dissapeer so fast???

not at all! some females stress easy, some don't. some keep their stress stripes for days, some never get them. i had one gal who'd stress stripe badly, unless her tank was covered, then they'd vanish almost right away. :3

Stress stripes may immediately change according to change of mood. But some females may retain them most of the time and will only change when she flares. in fact, I've had a few that still show stress stripes even when she's flaring then change after a few minutes.
