Hello again,

Petrie's mom here. The temperatures in AZ are rapidly changing and I'm trying to combat all the natural elements that would bug my betta LOL. He's sitting in a 1.5 gallon tank with real plants and a new addition of a flat heater (mini 15 W) right beside my window for natural light during the day for himself and the plants. Please read my others posts for justification of the smaller tank. I installed the heater today because I noticed him clenching his fins and moving a little bit slower than normal. My room was a crisp 65 degrees so he was COLD! I was wondering how warm is too warm? I believe it's sitting between 78 and 82 degrees because it's lukewarm to the touch and is the equivalent of swimming in a slightly heated pool if that makes sense, haha! I am so excited because he's been more active and personable after the change and no longer hides out in his hide when the lights are off. He's also starting a bubble nest just 3 days after purchasing him.

Enjoy this photo of him resting on a leaf showing off his new colors!

Holy crap, I appreciate the honesty! I felt so stupid and mad at myself but he's doing good now. I called Aqueon and they said it's good to heat the 1.5 gallon for an hour at a time like twice a day in the cold morning and in the cold evening so it stays relatively warm. I'm going to do this for now through the winter while the house is in the 60s.

I agree with @BettaloverSara,

I started out with a nonadjustable heater, and I live in Louisiana where it is mostly humid and warm for the better part of the year. It drove me crazy trying to stay on top of the temperature. So I bought some adjustable heaters, and life was so much better after that! :)
