Tank relocation question-depression

Hi all,

I have a active, older Male Betta who is in a 5 galllon tank alone. His tank used to be in my room, and next to the TV, he couldnt see the tv etc, but he saw a lot of movement around the bedroom and seemed to enjoy his spot. I recently decided to move his tank to a different location in my room, but it doesn't have quite the view of the room it had before. Since the relacation he has seemed depressed and less active. Could this be the reason? Do bettas get used to their place and prefer to stay there? His new spot has less noise, but less of a view of the room. Anyone else run into this problem? I am very new to Bettas, but have a heater, tank plants caves etc, and I have had him about a year. I have no issues moving him back. If that is the issue....but do fish really care? Thanks!!

yes yes yes. bettas LOVEEEE to look at people and what is happening! keep him in an active area. bettas also like noise as long as its not a sudden jolt of noise. when ever I am on the phone I sit by the tank so my betta can listen to me. He happly flits about the tank when ever I talk in a way thats different if i am just watching him. I would put him back or work on giving him some of you TLC for at least an hour out of the day. I blow bubbles into the tank with some left over airline tubing and train him and that helps us bond.
