Hello all, I am new here. So I currently just purchased a 20 gallon long tank, and am about to start cycling it. I am planning to get a male betta once the tank is cycled. I have had male bettas before, but my last tank was only 5 gallons so I’ve never had the means to have any tank mates for my bettas so the idea of this is all new (and exciting) to me! It occurred to me that with a 20 gallon I should have enough room for at least one or two tank mates.
So those of you who have experience with tank mates for male bettas, what would you suggest adding for him? I would rather err on the side of NOT overstocking the tank or setting up a situation where the betta or tank mates stress or injure each other (or worse). I’d also prefer if I didn’t have to do any separate care if possible. Thanks in advance!
