 Saw this guy at PetSmart... too bad I don't have a proper tank setup

But on the bright side... the 5 gallon Kritter Keeper will be ready hopefully in the next few weeks! I hope he's still available..

Pictures explain it all, beautiful crowntail. The tips of his fins are red.

Very pretty male. I like the marble color on him!
He's tail looks really short, is that normal?
Very pretty!
@fishy he may be a young crowntail.

Yes this is normal. Usually young CTs don't develop their rays until further down in the life.

Or he could just be a cross between a HM and a CT, though his rays are a little larger than they usually would be. It all depends on his age and parents so you would never know unless he comes with his history records which is impossible with LPS's.
I personally think he just overcame either tailbiting or finrot

I wouldn't be surprised in either
The LFSs don't exactly provide the fish entertainment and MOST LFSs don't clean the betta cups that often.

And when they do, it's pretty bad, all for the sake of saving time. I remember when I worked at petsmart, watching the "petcare" employees clean the betta cups.
They had a 5 gallon tank that had a fish net balanced on top, they pour, LITERALLY pour the betta into the net, fill the cup with new dyed water/plop the fishy in there.
I cringed every time I saw it :'(

I know exactly what you are talking about I have seen them do it when I go into Petstore. Its ridiculous. I told her to be a little more kind with the poor animal

Sadly she probably just rolled her eyes or she just ignored you response.
haha I made sure she was intimidated because I just watched her as she finished with the bunch... at least that one time they were treated nicer
