Well, think about it. Say in between 72F and 82F, there are four little marks. Lets turn this into an algebra equation:
4x?=10
10/4=2.5
So, 4x2.5=10.
Since there are 10 degrees between 72 and 82, each one must be worth 2.5 degrees because there are four little marks.

I bought mine at some fish store and has a green area between 7o and 80 degrees, but I figured it out it's exactly two degrees per hash mark. So actually my tank was a little warm at 80.

So I turned the temp down and am trying to get it stable at 78 or 79.
