After getting two inspected betta from a friend and only having one 10 gallon betta tank, I decided to do a one divided tank and it is already fully cycled. PNow for my questions. I live in New Jersey, and some of the local nurseries sell both of this plants including lilies and other pondish plants. I want a aquarium plant that floats to creat dim lighting for the low light plants below. Rae the two I picked good? I have a flouresant light bulb for plants and a lees corner filter. Also a hydor 50 watt. The flora are java moss, Java fern, Marimos, Anubis nana, and amazon sword with one of the new additions of water lettuce or water hyacinths. Which is easier or more suited for an aquarium. Also please share any suggestions if you have any other floating plants. One more thing. If I bought the W Lettuce or the W Hycainths do I need to quarantine them? Thanks

Quarantine, definitely yes. These will have been growing pond style and could potentially have hitchhikers that could wreck havoc on an aquarium. Water lettuce would be more suitable to the aquarium. Just be prepared for it to break down a bit. In my experience taking water lettuce from a pond where they grow 2-3 inches across and placing in an aquarium will cause them to break down into tiny plants more the size of a quarter.
The hyacinth is going to grow quite large at 12-16 inches out of the water.
Some other suitable floating plants for the aquarium to consider would be azola, salvinia, and red root floaters.
