You know the ones, in the cylindrical containers, you cant deny having looked :)

I was thinking of using these in my aquarium, but I want to know if they are very good quality. the tall-thin leaved ones do well in aquariums, the small-leaved varieties usually die, and the fat leaved varieties, the leaves usually discintegrate slowly (i make bracelets out of them, they are great for weaving)

The majority of them are non aquatic such as ribbon plants, aquatic ferns, etc. but there are argentine and amazon swords which are true aquatic plants. I would recommend looking at the name o f the plant first and searching of its really truly aquatic. I did recently make a thread/list of non aquatic plants
Ok, cool :D Maybe thats y some die and some thrive Maybe i can turn my old 2.5 into a terarium so they can get a break from water :D seems to help with my friends semi-aquatic plants, she rotates them out.
I would recommend placing the semi aquatic plants into a half filled or quarter filled tank long term as placing them regularly In full water could easily result in the plant rotting
The person at Petsmart that helped me with my anacharis and water wisteria helped me find the aquatic plants and showed me where to look to see if it's actually aquatic, because they didn't have any java ferns in their plant tank. I got two java ferns and they're still doing great. :)
I know what the none aquatic plants look like and the other way as well. Just look for plant names you know about. The ones that look very interesting, like peacock My Petco has some so yeah.
Peackock fern, ribbon plant, mondo grass, Japanese sweet flag, etc. are all great examples of non-aquatic plants
i purchased a tube about a month ago. stood in the store for at least 30 minutes looking up the plants they had available on my phone and was surprised how many were not true aquatics. i picked up some wisteria, which didn't "look" like wisteria but that was because it had been grown out of water. it didn't survive the transition phase in my tank. :-( while my results were mostly do to the fact i'm new to live plants i also think going from dry conditions to wet conditions added more stress to the plant. i second the idea of using one of their available aquatic plant books if you don't have easy access to the internet while you're shopping. i personally won't be purchasing any more dry tubed plants. i think the plants have a better chance in my hands if they're already familiar with being submerged :)

I only ever get Java Fern and Crypts at petco.
Got a nice long-leaf Anubias at Petsmart. Love it. Want more.

It's pretty common for planted tanks to "start dry," as in growing the plants out of water in humid conditions. The tube plants mimic that, so I would be surprised if the transition was what killed them.

I just bought some anubias nana at Petsmart yesterday. The selection overall was pretty bad, but I got the anubias for around 50% less than it's priced anywhere else in town. Also, the non-aquatic plants were at least labeled as "semi-aquatic," so they aren't completely dishonest.
ok maybe i should look at petsmart cuz my petco doesnt have alot, but i try to stay faithful :/ lol they are good people.. or try :p
