what else could cause pine coning?

so, Medic is still very bloated and pine coned. but... she's super active, happy, and even flared at my Doubletail, Twitch! i just..... she's not acting sick at all!

so, it makes me think, it can't be organ failure.... it can't be true Dropsy. so, what else could cause her to pine cone like this?

i have her in a bare-bottomed one gallon in the living room, so i can watch over her. haven't fed her anything for about three days, to see if the bloating goes down, but i haven't seen her poop, either.

she's not clamped. not lethargic. and flared so much, Twitch stopped flaring at her and just flirted!

i just.... don't get it. :I she's pine coned. that's not good. but she's not acting like a sick fish. not showing any other symptoms of being sick. could she... NOT be sick? o-O

My fish is doing the exact same thing. His abdomen was swollen so I soaked him in some Epsom salt and the next morning the swelling was GONE. Completely. But he is still a bit pine coned, yet flaring, swimming, has an appetite, etc. Idk what to do :/

I don't know, but it wouldn't hurt to treat for dropsy, just in case...

That's basically what I've been doing. His swelling came back today. I guess I'll do another Epsom salt soak. I'm really confused on what to do. I'm hesitant to add Maracyn because I don't know how to use it properly and what medications you can mix. I've read many mixed reviews.

How long did you do the esposm salt? I think you're supposed to treat for several days o.o

Yeah I did one soak on wednesday for 10 minutes and then another today
(friday) for another 10 minutes. I don't think I should've skipped a day because he went back to how he was on wednesday :-(

I did a 100% water change while he was soaking and put in fresh water, water conditioner, and Maracyn. I'm gonna give it a go. I'm also trying to find a store that has Maracyn 2 that I can buy and add in today.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can use Maracyn and Maracyn 2 together.

Yes, you can use Maracyn and Maracyn 2 together. I have them both lying around, and I just checked the back of both the packages. Maracyn says you can use it with Maracyn 2, and Maracyn 2 says you can use it with Maracyn :-D
