What is a good newbie plant for a 3 gallon tank?

I have basic 3 gallon tank. What is a good newbie plant for my betta tank? Also how can I provide it with light as its hood does not have anything other than a simple door on top.

Well right now the tank has no Betta but I am trying to make it a betta dream condo as soon as I have the money next week.

Anubias will grow without any artificial lighting. I've always found this plant to be practically indestructible. As long as the tank is not positioned in an especially dark corner of the room, it should grow, albeit extremely slowly.

If there are issues, you can cut the leaves off right to the rhizome and provided the rhizome itself is healthy, it will grow back.
