Hello,

I bought this betta the other day, he was listed as: Short-fin blue dragon. It was my understanding that dragons had white bodies? He is actually a cornflour blue with a white chin and belly. The scales on his body are thick (like dragons). What pattern (?) do you think he is?

I want to breed him, but I want to understand his genetics a bit better. It would help if I knew what he actually was! He is a half-moon (his tail span is slightly over 180 degrees!)

Also, what do you suggest in terms of matching a female to him (i.e. colour etc).

Thank you!

First off, beautiful fish! Dragons can be any color, it just means they have thick, dragon like, scales. And as for him being short finned, that is refered to as a Plakat (PK). Cannot say for sure if he is a half moon (HM) from that picture, getting him flaring would be the best way to tell. Also his head looks a bit spoon shaped in that photo, which is not a desirable trait.

Thanks!
Oh it's just a bad angle, his head isn't a funny shape! I can upload a better photo later!
So if he is a dragon, could his offspring have white body scales? I know blue is very dominant, so....
