I'm curious, what are these brown dots on this plant? It's been there since shortly after I got it (probably a month).

Please don't let this be snail eggs. I already have five snails!

What you have there is a javafern. ferns are unique plantsthat do not reproduce via seeds. Instead they produce spores on the underside of their leaves. While aquatic ferns generally do not produce spore under water, many aquarium plants are grown terrestrially. Your java fern likely came from such a nursery, therefore there are spores on your fern :) hope that answers your question.

Ah, I thought I was remembering the name of the plant wrong! Thanks.

Does this mean I'll have little java ferns growing eventually? Because that would be fabulous.
