I went to PetCo today not to buy a fish and left with one anyway (brings the count up to 10). Everyone knows me (and a friend of mine) as the Betta Girls, we go in a few times a week to check on their Bettas mostly and make sure they are being well taken care of.
Today they had some new ones in and I fell in love with the 2nd one I saw. He's a purple Halfmoon with clear/white fins (looks blueish in pics). He's got a white fungus bump on his side about the size of a scale, it looks cottony, not stringy. I was there yesterday and he wasn't there, so they just got him in today.

Currently I have him in a 1 gallon QT with an undergravel filter. I just gave him a little bit of Maracyn. According to my Fish Disease Guide i should also give him MarOxy as the main medication, is this true? It also says instead of Maracyn I can use Maracyn 2, Maracyn TC or Maracyn Plus.

I at the moment have Maracyn, Maracyn 2, Coppersafe and Maracide.. along with a few different Ick medications (Jungle and API and some other off brand). Tomorrow I plan on going to PetSmart and getting some MarOxy, i just wanted to get an opinion on what I should give him.

I also gave him a tiny bit of pre-mixed Aquarium Salt Water as well as some Stress Coat (which I always use).


He doesn't act sick or anything, he's pretty well normal aside from the white fuzzy bump.

Not really sure, but it could be a fungus? Maybe from a damaged scale? Jungle Fungus Eliminator was the medication recommended on the site I found a picture and description to what could be on your fish. One of the medications you have probably does the same thing.

Take this with a grain of salt though, it's only a guess on my part. I've had no experience with what your fish has.

Can anyone give me a good idea what to do for him? He's got a few more patches on his body, they don't stick out like the first one does (not yet) but he's got 2 more on his other side.

I'm giving him Maroxy and Maracyn.

He's starting to act like it's bothering him, he seems like he's scratching here and there.

Also, it's only on his body, not on his fins yet. Sorry for the crappy pictures, he doesn't like me very much just yet so he's shy and tries to stay away from the camera. I circled where these new spots are cause they are kinda hard to see.
