Mine is the moment when they're first in the permanent tank and they have the lighting and all the room to stretch their fins. Then you really get to see what they look like.

Hmm... opening the box and finding out that the fish I ordered are prettier than I thought and that the breeder (sometimes) included a bonus fish!
It's been a couple of months since I got a new betta and unfortunately I probably will not be getting anymore soon bc I have juvies growing out.
Of course, I cannot promise that if my favorite breeder ends up listing on Aquabid.

i didn't get to open the box for Cookie (my HM female) because i was at school and my dad didn't want me to skip ;p but i still enjoyed the other two times. i also like opening boxes because am curious how the betta really looks lol
i promised myself to not get another betta, am working on breeding (super hard, it's like keeping a fat kid away from cake, lol)

From a store or from online?
Picking one in a store is hard actually, because you know how many you can bring home and how many others must stay So my favorite part is bringing him home and setting him up and seeing him happy

I never ordered online but I would be a nervous wreck waiting for him to arrive safely! I don't have the kind of money you need to order online though.

I like getting to setup the new aquarium and watch them get acclimated to their new environment. Poseidon was so good when I first got him. He ate right away and was strutting around for a little bit (he was temporarily in a 1 gal bowl while I set up his new home).

Arrival.
I love opening the box when they arrive! It's so exciting and I must do it immediately. I even stop mid-sentence to grab up the box and take it to be opened.

May sound kind of weird but my favourite part is filling up the tank for the first time. xD

I love watching them check out everything in their new tank. I managed to have 15 very curious bettas- None of them ever cringed or hid initially. From the getgo everyone of them sniffed out everythig in their new homes. So cute.

Also when they are first in their homes and done checking things, and come to the side and do that 'feed me feed me' thing with their mouths for the first time. I really feel like their official parent then.

and the second best is finding out their personality..

the third best is when they figure out that your "the good guy"

My favorite part is when they get released from the dirty cup to a BIG tank.
