Artificial plants coming apart

I have a few artificial plants in a 10 gallon aquarium setup and one of them has separated from the base. Currently the bbase is still buried Iin the gravel and the plant part Iis floating at the top. New betta uses it as a hammock near the surface haha.

My question is if anyone has any suggestions on how to repair the plant. Are there any adhesives or solutions that are aquarium and fish safe? Or is this grass plant destined to be a floating hammock?

Do you have a heater in that tank? I ask because your boy looks very clamped and most commonly this is caused by cold temps or poor water conditions.

I agree that 100% silicone sealant labelled aquarium safe is your best bet for fixing the plant, although if it is plastic, you may want to replace it altogether. Plastic plants tend to rip delicate betta fins unfortunately.

I do have a heater. This is a new fish from a pet store that I have only had for a few days. He had been in VERY dirty water and has been slowly getting more active and flaring a little more. The tank hovers between 79-81.

I am going to do a water change tonight and hopefully that helps more. I do use water conditioner/stress coat and aquarium salt. I am open to any suggestions to improve his conditions! I am still very new at this :)

Ahh...that makes sense now! Good for you for rescuing him :-D. The temps sound good and it seems you are doing everything right keeping up with those water changes. The stress coat may help if he has any injuries. I would keep the aquarium salt treatment to 7 days or less especially since he doesn't look to have any fin rot, but other than that, it sounds like he should be on the mend soon. Feeding him some good nutritious food (I'd recommend a good quality pellet and a variety of frozen foods) should also help. Good luck with him!

Thank you!!

How long do you think it should take for him to perk up? This is my second betta and his health does not seem to be as great from the store as my first, who was immediately flaring and defending his territory with great enthusiasm! Although he was largwr and my guess older when I picked him up.

oh!! And more questions haha. I have a wonder great Wall of China piece that I love in my aquarium but it seems to be a HUGE magnet for FUNGUS. And for no reason that I can think of. Any idea why that might be? I'm reluctant to even place it back in the tank at this point but I would like to because it looks so good and it has extra hiding places.

Well, it's hard to tell how long he will take to start feeling better, but I'd say within a week you should see some improvement. If you think he might be suffering from ammonia/nitrite poisoning (which alters the ability of hemoglobin to carry oxygen), then you could try giving him a methylene blue bath. The instructions and a bit more info can be found here: Aquarium Medications Part 3 | Parasite & Chemical treatments

As for the Wall of China piece, if it is truly collecting fungus, then I wouldn't add it to the tank. This poor little guy is probably pretty immunocompromised right now, so try to keep his environment as clean as possible to stave off infection. If you need a cheap cave, try terra cotta flower pots. Bettas seem to love them and you can't beat the price ;)

Just did a 10-20% water change this evening and I think he is beginning to perk up. I will definitely check out the methylene blue if he still isn't improving. Thank you!!!

I haven't put the China wall back in the aquarium since I noticed fungus collecting on it. I've rinsed it in super hot water and scrubbed the daylights out of it but I think I'm just paranoid now. It looked so good in the aquarium! And first fish would swim through it like a tunnel.
