Betta Rescue in Florida?

I am looking to adopt another betta because I really prefer not to purchase animals from pet stores. I have looked and posted on craigslist and the app called next door. I have not been able to find any bettas looking for homes. Does anyone know of someone who might run a rescue near me? I'm located about midway between Orlando and Miami.

Female, male, of any age or color, doesn't matter. I have a heated 10 gallon tank waiting for a new little friend!

yah, considering when someone fails to care for a betta it usually just dies there likely aren't going to be many rescues. And considering fish can die so easily if succumb to stress, it doesn't seem like an easy thing to run. But you can always buy from betta breeders who take good care of their fish, and breed for good, strong, healthy offspring. My marble koi girl I got from a breeder, and she was delivered with such care. There are many breeders here that you can find a good fish from if you prefer, or if not they aren't hard to find =)

I saw one betta rescue online once but the person who ran the rescue just bought sick bettas from the store, healed them, and sold them. That's still supporting the store so it's hardly helping anything.

Check Ebay. Sometimes people who want to get rid of their betta post them there.

Are you opposed to buying from a breeder? You can check spawn logs on the forum and see if US breeders have anything that you're interested in.

There was actually a member here who had a Betta rescue years ago and she just recently shut it down due to lack of time. I had a Betta from her rescue (Veyron in my avatar).
I've also heard of people being able to get Betta cheap or free from pet stores if they look like they are on their last limb but I don't know how you feel about asking for free fish.
