Blackened tail edges?!

Housing:
How many gallons is your tank? 1-soon to be 5 gallons
Does it have a filter? no
Does it have a heater? yes
What temperature is your tank? 70 degrees
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Does your Betta have tank mates? What kind? no

Food:
What food brand do you use? Omega-one
Do you feed flakes or pellets? pellets
Freeze-dried? Bloodworms occasionally
How often do you feed your Betta? How much? more often than I should, probably.

Maintenance:
Before your Betta became ill how often did you perform a water change? I've only had him a few days and his tail was like this when I got him. But 50% every other day
What percentage of water did you change? 50
Do you vacuum the substrate or just dip out water? dip out water
What additives do you use? Prime, Aquarium salt, and stress coat.

Water Parameters:
What are your water parameters? Please give exact numbers. If tested by pet store please get exact numbers. "Fine" or "Safe" won't help us help you.

I plan on testing all of the below when I cycle the five gallon tank.

Alkalinity (KH):idk

When did you first notice the symptoms? Day 2
How has your Betta’s appearance changed? It hasn't
How has your Betta’s behavior changed? It hasn't
Is your Betta still eating? Yes
Have you started treating your Betta? If so, how? Yes. At first I used bettafix but stopped cuz I realized it might effect his immune system. Then I started using stresscoat
Does your Betta have any history of being ill? Not that I know of.
How long have you owned your Betta? Was he or she a rescue? Less than a week. Not really...his previous owner is/was awesome.

Although it is difficult to tell from the pictures, generally blackened edges of fins are simply fin rot, which can be treated. The aquarium salt treatment should be showing improvement soon, but if not, you could switch back to using the Bettafix, it's perfectly safe if he has a health issue. Once he is moved into his bigger tank it will also help against the reoccurrence or worsening of his condition. Also, try increasing the temperature of your tank/heater. Bettas prefer to be around 78+ degrees fahrenheit :) Hope this helps!
