I was wondering if it would be safe to move my betta fish into a tank instead of the bowl it's in right now, I'm not sure about all the details (like gallons and stuff, we used a pitcher full of water to measure) but the tank had 14 pitcher full of water, and the bowl only fit one pitcher of water. I don't want my betta to drown or something if the tank is too big or to be super stressed out or something.. so should I moved it or not?

Yes you should definitely move your fish. Just be sure the water in the tank is the same temperature as in the bowl when you actually move him. And adding some additional decorations/plants/caves to the larger tank will make him feel secure. Most bettas will appreciate a larger space.

The only risk of drowning is if your fish can't get to the surface at all for air, since bettas can get oxygen both from the water through their gills and from the air using a specialized organ. They do need access to the surface, but unless your fish is ill or weak, no tank should be too big for him/her to swim up for air.

The tank is probably better for him... unless there are other fish in the tank who might not get along with him. Will he be living with other fish in the tank?

I have a betta in a 125 gallon - it has yet to drown and it swims all over the tank.

It lives with cichlids, rainbows, loaches, barbs and gouramis.

I think we are going to put one in the 225.

The filtration on the 125 does 975 gallons per hour, in case anyone was wondering.
