How old is your girl? If she’s pretty old you might want to put her to sleep if she’s not well.

 

I don't, other than what I'm reading on the internet from other betta keepers. It's a bit harsh, so depending on what is happening with the fish other options might be better, for example with swim bladder issues, stopping feeding for 24 for 48 hours is suggested before actually doing a magnesium sulfate bath.

I am so so sorry! I feel sad that you may have to put him down, but clove oil is the best to put them down peacefully.
It will work with any fish.

 

Hi @The fish! I'm sorry Red is sick. Is this the same fish you posted about on February 11? It would help if you could get some clear pictures of Red. I know it's really hard with a betta, since they are always moving, but "yellow splotches on his side" could be anything from normal color changes to a tumor to a fungus. Without clear pictures we will not be able to help him. As Feanor said in the previous thread, he is very skinny and would benefit from multiple feedings of rich foods like bloodworms. Have you tried those yet?

 

Yes, the same fish. I tried rich foods but he doesnt take them and just runs away from the worms so I couldn't really do much.

 

Sorry to hear you buddy sick. Fingers crossed that he gets better.

I've used clove oil, and I assumed that it worked (my boy was in such bad shape I don't know if it was the clove oil, or that he simply just passed on his own). Hopefully it won't come to that for you boy.

 

Have you tried soaking the food in garlic? When fish are too malnourished, they loose their eating reflex. Sometimes soaking food in garlic can stimulate that reflex. I hope you are able to get him to eat! I would encourage you to post some clear pictures on the other thread so we can take a look and see what else might be going on!
