I’m not quite sure if this falls under betta emergencies/diseases but it was my best guess. My English is bad sometimes I’m sorry. I have bunch of pest snails from plants I bought, I originally only had three and they had lots of babies, they were 30 babies and all the size of tiny sand so small. All the small snails (over 20 of them) were gone! The bigger ones remained and I took them out and I regularly check the tank for snails to transfer them into a little snail tank I put together for snail bc I feel bad killing them. Those are lot snails for betta to be eating with small stomach. I fasted my betta for a day and today I fed him pieces of peas for digestion. I have not seen any signs of discomfort besides a slightly larger belly. Should I fast him longer because he ate so much snail? Or should I just decrease the amount of food he eats a day? Should I go back to his regular eating schedule? I’m very am confused and I just got my fish I do not want him dying so soon :,( he’s a beautiful candy koi plakat! So full of energy and cute... any advice?

Your English is good :)

Bettas stomachs are larger than their eye, so for his regular eating schedule you will want to be sure you feed him enough. He should look similar to this when you look at him from above;

I would suggest that you stop feeding him peas, and possibly give him one more day with no food, until you see him poop. Then begin with his normal eating schedule.

Hello and welcome to the Forum!

Very good questions you‘re asking.
I personally never witnessed one of my Betta eating baby snails. Which doesn‘t say they don‘t!
As I have pest snails in all of my tanks and haven‘t had any issues with the Betta living in there, I could only say it hasn‘t created a problem so far. I also haven’t been able to follow the individual development of a pest snail - they come and go ( I tried - but could not keep track!). So I don‘t know if some are eaten or all develop or only some develop due to whatever reason.
However if you are concerned about your fish‘s health, please fill in the linked form (copy&paste it here).
This will give members an overall view of his environment and care and ideas what‘s going on in the tank. If you happen to get any good pictures of your fish (preferably from when you got him and now) please add them. That would be very helpful.
Thank you!

Welcome to the Forum!

I don't see any bloating with him. A good profile shot would be of further help, though. One that is not at an angle.

Which Aqueon are you feeding? As long as it is Betta or Betta Color you are fine. If it is Betta Pro, not so much and I'd throw it out and get something more nutritious. Also, manufacturers stress freeze dried is for treats-only and should not be used as a meal substitute. I'd drop those to a couple of times per week.

There's really no need to fast Betta if a nutritious food with few fillers are in the formula: Devour Grain Free Bug formula, Fluval Bug Bites, NorthFin Betta Bits, New Life Spectrum, Omega One and Aqueon Betta or Color.

Fasting started when all we had was foods like Wardly (Hartz Mountain product) that were almost all fillers. We fed our Betta a piece of pea the size of a pin head and fasted for 24 hours to clean them out.

He is skinny if there is definition between his head and body. He should transition smoothly from nose to caudal base. Does he look like this from above? If so, he's not skinny.

Do you know what type of snail? Some "pest" species burrow into the substrate when there are predators in the tank.

Hi!
This is my opinion only, but you might consider adjusting the feeding a little bit to less bloodworms (those bloodworms are frozen, and not freeze-dried?) and more feedings of pellets, so on the days he gets bloodworms in the morning, give him pellets in the evening.

Hopefully someone else chimes in about my thoughts on this :)
