Frozen food recommendation?

Hi all!

I’m wondering if anyone can recommend some frozen food and perhaps the brand or a good place to get it?

I read that freeze food may not be good for the betta due to constipation so I’m thinking regular frozen food might be better? I also read that it’s not something I should feed as regular meals but rather a treat so I’m wondering if there’s a suggested portion or frequency I can give him some?

He is quite happy eating his regular food (Bug Bites) but I’m thinking an occasional treat/variation might be nice :) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I feed my little guy the San Fransisco Bay Frozen brine shrimp. He seems to love the variation in his diet. I'm not sure what resources you have around but I got mine at my local aquarium store. I believe you can also buy them and other frozen foods off of liveaquaria.com

Oh it sounds like this is the brand to go with! Believe it or not, there is no local aquarium store in my city (it's pretty small) so I will definitely search for it online! Thanks :)

If you can find it, for one Betta I would go with San Francisco Bay Freshwater Frenzy as it has a bit of everything (Bloodworms, Brine Shrimp, Watercress, Cyclops, Daphnia) Freshwater Frenzy™ - San Francisco Bay Brand

If you get two I'd add the Gamma or San Francisco Bay Mini Bloodworms.
Thanks :) I will look it up and see what I can find. It sounds like you are using a big variety of food for your betta, which I was afraid of doing, so I am glad to see that it is okay to mix it up a bit for him. I will likely have to order it since our commercial pet stores are not too reliable with what they have in stock and often the selections are not all that vast.

I order from liveaquaria.com as well The Gamma brands are more but, IMO, better because they've been irradiated.

I have four Betta at the moment so I use one or two cubes per day + Devour pellets:

Gamma Mini Bloodworms (Midge Fly larva)
Gamma Tubifex Worms
San Francisco Bay Brand Freshwater Frenzy
San Francisco Bay Baby Brine Shrimip
San Francisco Bay Brand Mini Bloodworms
Hikari Daphnia

I use all the above mentioned by @RussellTheShihTzu znd @MysticBettas and I add to that list, cyclops, plankton, SF Brand Cichlid Delight (a turkey heart based mixture--more digestible than beef heart), and SF Bay Emerald Entry. I prefer using adult brine shrimp that has been fed on spirulina or is vitamin enriched--Hikari and Ocean Nutriion both offer these, and Hikari also has vitiamin enriched blood worms.

Now I’m feeling kind of silly lol I saw some that had the word spirulina in it, but thought it was a bad thing and avoided it altogether. Perhaps I will now pick some up for my fish after all 🤣

When you feed bloodworms, how much do you give your fish? I’m always worried I’m over feeding Andy but at the same time, I don’t want the little guy to go hungry either.. even if he always acts like he’s never seen food before. Guess that’s just bettas for you lol
