Is 74 degrees ok?

I have the preset Aqueon heater that doesn't go below or above 74 degrees. Is this ok? I just brought my new Betta, Percy, home who is a beautiful orange veil tail with a black outline on his scales. His tail is a little run down (probably due to the cup conditions) but I'm hoping it'll improve.

Also, what's the best way to accumulate him to his new home?

Betta need higher temperatures than 75. I keep mine at around 79 but even that may be too cold for a baby.

The best way to acclimate is to float his cup or bag and add a little bit of tank water at intervals of 10-15 minutes for five or six times.

Show photos when you can. Can't wait to see him. :)

Just a couple other questions:
My heater is in as low as I can get it without the wire in. Will Percy be electrocuted if I make it any lower?
If this doesn't work out with the heater, could i exchange it? I bought it about 2 weeks ago but I'm not sure if I still have the receipt
Just out of curiously, how common are bettas like Percy (like the orange color and black scales)? My uncle bred Bettas for the longest time and always hangs out in pet stores and he said he's never seen one in our area. So are they just difficult to find where I am or is it a widespread thing?

do you still have the box it came in? does it say submersible? if so if won't electrocute your fish. they are made to be in the water. my heater is completely under the water.

not sure about how common your betta is.
