Is My Betta Bored?

I just got my betta a little over 1 week ago and he has a 15 gallon tank all to himself. He is super energetic and I feel like he's always swimming at the front of the tank wanting attention. I feel bad because I feel like maybe he's bored with his environment and that's why he swims at the front of the tank? I just did a 60% water changed because his plants were dying and the leaves I had floating at the top were getting old. I will definitely get more leaves and plants soon, but he also has his coconut, plant hammocks and floating log for his environment. Any suggestions?

Before I forget: Block the hole in the top of the coconut hut if you think it's possible he could become stuck.

I don't believe fish become bored the way we do. But they do love to explore so the more plants you have the better. They are far better than ornaments. A tank 60% planted is good; 75% even better. Some Betta like those floating logs.

I think you may be planting too deep. The crown or rhizome (where leaves emerge) should be above the substrate with only the leaves in the sand. I plant deep and gently lift the plant until the crown or rhizome are visible.

Personally, I like floating plants and heavily planted aquariums. If you make 75 to 80% plants, you can do something like an ecosystem aquarium where you never have to do water changes. I agree that bettas don't need stimulation like we do but they need some. Occasionally I flare my male betta and I feed next to my floater plants so that my neon tetras find it first and my betta needs to find the food. I also feed a variety of foods to my betta and mix them together so he doesn't know what to expect. If you get floaters, you can "stimulate the betta by making him come to the top of the aquarium and find the feeding ring that you can put up there. (Just my opinion)
