Wow! I've heard of marbles doing this, maybe he has a similar gene that made him change color. That is a cool color of yellow he kind looks like a goldfish now. Lol

 

Yea when he first started to change colors I figured he was going to turn into a marble but the yellow just kept coming and the green kept shrinking.

 

ya gotta love marbles! one of mine went from mostly white, to mostly blue. :B

Ive had fish do that too! very pretty fish!

 

Keep an eye on his behaviour. Typically, bettas change to a darker or more vivid colour - paler colours can be a sign of sickness. It's quite possible it isn't, but do keep an eye out.

Romeo did the same thing. When I first got him he was pure white with his beard only being maroon but after a few weeks he turned into pink and maroon

 

If you're feeding him any type of colour enhancing food, that could be part of it. My VT, Punkin, when I first got him he looked like this the first picture, then changed to how he is now in the 2nd picture. That's because I have always fed him colour enhancing food, which most Betta food actually is.

 

It's even colour-enhanced his bubblenest.

Really, conditions and good nutrition (regardless of whether it says colour=enhacing or not) will cause a betta to brighten up, regardless of whether they are marbles. It's just more noticeable in a marble.

 

That's awesome. And it seems to be a healthy vivid yellow which isn't all that common so that's pretty cool too. I love how bettas seemingly change color as they mature. My Gyarados used to be a very plain red with only a tiny smidge of blue. Now he's red, blue, and black.

I love the yellow on your little guy. I usually see the opposite happen--added color, not turn into one almost solid color.
