First time aquarium owner right here!

Here's some info on Kaewen and his house.

Tank Size: 9L (2.3 Gal)
Tank Temperature: 28c (82.4F)
Filter: Yes set on low

Hi all!

I bought my crown tail Siamese fighter just under a week ago he had been in the pet store for a week prior to that and was in perfectly fine health. I was given 2 neon tetras to put in the tank with him also. Everyone was happy and healthy.

Day 1 (morning). One of the neon tetras disappeared. I suspect Kaewen ate it.
Tank had nice clear water, fighter was particularly active and curiously exploring his environment.

Day 1 (evening). Found the other tetra in the filter. Kaewen still happy and active. Creating quite an impressive bubble nest.

Day 2. Fighter still active and curious still working on bubble nest. Water is cloudy but nothing alarming.

Day 4. As above.

Day 5 (morning). Water cleared up once again. Fighter fish still active but blowing less bubbles.

Day 5 (evening). Water is clear, Kaewen has given me a minor heart attack by snuggling up to an Ursula statue and having a long nap (close to the heater) but I can see him breathing quite steadily

Day 6 (morning). Kaewen is still sleeping, this time with SpongeBob (furthest corner from the heater) and I couldn't see him breathing. With tears welling in my eyes I opened the drawer under the cupboard he is on to get the net. He suddenly "jumped" up and swam around for a minute before returning to his spot to sleep again.

Did he just exhaust himself for exploring for a few days straight and making the bubble nest? He was looking a little pale this morning and his eyes didn't look right... but that could be my imagination. Here's an image of his tank for reference.

He might have been sleeping and you startled him. Some extremely well colored bettas do go pale when they sleep and tend to color up once they are back to the waking world.
Your neons likely got caught in the filter or succumbed to stress. tetras are a shoaling species and need to live in a crowd or they start to act erratically and stress out. Couple that with a strong-ish filter and they might have not recovered from the stress of leaving the pet store. For reference move neons in lots of at least ten.

As to your new betta he seems to be doing wonderfully! A bubble nest means he is really enjoying his new tank and settling in nicely.
The clouding is common in new tanks and is just the water finding its proper balance. if your betta didnt react to it then there's nothing to worry about.
Sleeping near the heater isnt a problem, the new heater shapes are designed not to have hotspots and dont burn like the old models used to. My own likes to snuggle up to their heater when they sleep.

I am afraid the tank picture didnt load for me :(
