Okay so on my intense spree tonight, totally unplanned for and I have this forum to blame, I got a new tank, plants, frozen bloodworms and gravel. I split the cost and share of the worms with my sister who has trop fish. My question is, since I only have 1 fish atm, how long is a bit of worms okay in a dish of water?? We tried to split the pack on the bus but  I had no idea what kind of mes we were in for. Them things is nast-ay.

Now I have a partial opened block in a little container with water. How long before they spoil??

Note: Lakitu had his first frozen bloodworm and :p he is now a changed lil guy ;) Pics of new tank to come!

the FREEZE DRIED ones are the ones you should only feed once a week as treats if you feed at all... The frozen ones are safe to feed every day, or even every meal if you wanted. I feed my guys frozen thawed blood worms every other day, but i have a lot more than one, so a package doesnt last but a couple months for me.

How many fish are you feeding though? I only have 1/2 pack now for 1 fish. Even though I have an order in for a mg, I don't think Matt would like if I got him... So for the time being, a scrape off 1 block would last me MONTHS!! How often shold I feed him frozen bloodworms??

I thought it was only as a treat twice a week? He ate 4 good sized ones the night I bought them o.o So, I didn't feed him yesterday and only 2 pellets today. I don't want him getting fat or spoiled!! :p Even though, I already suspect I'm wrapped around his tail ;)

I put one frozen block into a 1 oz screw top clear plastic jar Saturday morning. Let it thaw out a little so that I can get a couple to feed my fishes. Put it in the fridge.

Feed again Saturday night, Sunday morning, Sunday night and throw the rest out.

I think it helps that I leave it in the fridge to keep it as fresh as possible after the defrost.

I'm not to worried about throwing the rest away, because from what I've read, the entire package should be used within 4 months or so, and at my rate it would take almost 6-7 months.
