I recently moved from a city water supply to a well water supply that uses a water softer system that uses salt during the process, is this safe to use for my betta fish. We do drink the tap water full time and it’s softer than the last water I used in my old home but I don’t know if I’ll be able to use the water with my bettas because of the salt, so should I buy purified water or is there something I can buy to take the salt out, or should I just use my normal conditioner because there’s not much salt at least not enough to make it undrinkable, I usually condition my water with water conditioner almond leaves and sometimes aquarium salt. The fish have filters and heaters

hey! although I wouldn’t recommend since the chemicals are a lot different from normal softening water I do not see a problem in it as I did that for a time before in my female bettas tank, right now I use the JBL biotopol water softener which works awesome.

I wouldn’t recommend doing it but if u don’t have any other choices you might as well use it than not using at all!

@ddurdle @sparkyjoe do you have further insight to this?

My thought is that you don't want to use anything other than mineralized Spring Water.

Water chemistry will be a bit different as Calcium will basically be replaced by Natrium.

There are different experiences as far as I read.

Most don‘t have issues and don‘t know why not.
Some say they had issues and can‘t explain why.
