Symptoms and Treatment:
When did you first notice the symptoms? 3 weeks ago. started treating with 80% water change and kanaplex, didn't help.
How has your Betta’s appearance changed? first a chunk of her tail was missing. then it progressed to larger chunks of her tail and lower fin. her left pectoral fin is gone. her right side fin is torn. parts of her top fin are receding. Her fins aren't receding, but seems to be coming off in chunks, and the broken parts are further receding. red inflammation around gillls.
How has your Betta’s behavior changed? she's lethargic and lays at the bottom of the tank with rapid breathing. sometimes she will zoom around the tank really fast, not normal for her.
Is your Betta still eating? yes
Have you started treating your Betta? If so, how? kanplex, one scoop every two days for three days as directed, no help. aquarium salt. methylene blue. seachem stressguard. and water changes until ammonia reads 0.

Was he or she ill or suffering some sort of damage when purchased? no
I don't think it's fin rot because her fins are coming off in chunks. Also don't think it's nipping because her fins are getting in torn in places she couldn't bite; upper fin, side fin, and missing pectoral fin. Her condition has progressively gotten worse despite treatment. I do water changes 1 -2x/ day to keep ammonia levels down. nitrates are 0. Kanaplex didn't help. Methylene blue, aquarium salt, and stressguard stopped things for a few days, but today more missing fin and she's more lethargic, is breathing heavy and lays at the bottom of the tank. She's no longer interactive and is no longer eating. I feel hopeless and don't know what else I can do for her, and need help. I adore her and would hate to lose her.
