Vinyl Tubing for a Tunnel - Toxic?

I was in Home Depot and found a clear vinyl tubing which I thought would make an awesome tunnel, but the guy I talked to didn't know if it would release toxins submerged in a fish tank. The tubing is oval, 1 3/4" H and 1" W. I wanted to only get 6 inches to go in a corner because it has a slight curve to it. (Sort of a shortcut around a corner and hide it with some "floppy plants".)

Any comments on the use of a vinyl tubing and possible toxins? Thanks.

Um, 6 inches isn't very long. Thanks for your concern.

I didn't think to ask... sort of a "duh" moment in my thinking there. But I'm almost positive that we as fish keepers use vinyl tubing for air hoses to go to in tank filters or air stones. This is a huge thick commercial grade hose made of vinyl big enough for a Betta size fish to swim through.

I guess the next trip to Home Depot, I'll have to ask what it is used for.

Is it a PVC type tubing?

Depending on what it is for-like some water hoses, some tubing can have chemical in them to stop fungus and molds...etc......so not everything is fish safe, but a lot is fish safe...not sure how you would find out-but you would think that some type of labeling would be required if chemical had been added.....

Oh most definitely, natural is best, but I thought it would be neat to make a see thru tunnel that you could catch glimpses of the fish swimming thru it with strategically placed plants that would make it sort of enchanted. It's a girl thing... LOL... :)

Um, Mr. Motorcycle in his fish tank avatar... :)

Thats a wicked idea!

I have a rock (maybe i should take a pic of it..) that has 2 caverns through it, they twist and turn through the rock, and my female bettas swim through it and you can only see them suprizing you when they come out or are swimming into it!

Also, what about using a broken clay planting pot (bottom broken out), that way is save and kinda cool looking...
