I've noticed that my betta often hides underneath the Indian almond (ketapang) leaves in his tank. Is this normal behavior? Is he feeling stressed, or does he just like the cover? Just want to make sure he's healthy and happy.
Why does my betta fish like to hide under Indian almond leaves?

Bettas are slow swimmers hence they instinctively seek cover to hide from predators. They often prefer hiding under something, preferably something floating on the surface.
However, if they feel comfortable with their homes, they will explore the whole tank, even the whole 2m tub. But will eventually return to their "safe" haven.
