I'm going to Thailand tomorrow and I want to know if anyone has caught or seen any wild bettas in Khao Lak. I won't be keeping them but more catch and release them. It's been my dream to catch them for a while now and any input is appreciated.

Don't worry about info. However I am an 11hr drive away from chatuchak. There are markets near here and some streams so I might be able to catch some. I will try and take some photos.
I just realised that the flag changes on which country you're in not what you're account's registered in.

Yeah I looked but thanks. I might have found a place to catch some. Lmk what you think. My parents found it but I went to have a look my self so here are some pics. I am scared tho as it's a drug creek. There's pill bottles and syringes so if you know what that means than good for you. It also seems like there's some gourami or other fish so my hopes are higher. They are stripy but my camera didnt pick it up.

No I don't have a net but I uave seen people have some at the surf board hire place at the hotel. There are heavily planted places like 10m upstream so I might look today. As you said though I do just need to be very cautious and try to go in the water as little as possible. It looks saltwater but to my dissapointment and happiness there's duckweed just growing in it which confirms it's freshwater. I think I'm in southern or SE Thailand so I think that's Imbellis and splendens.
I will keep you updated.

The hotel has a few ponds and streams which have koi and some sort of African cichlid. However yesterday there was another fish too that had the shape of a betta but I wanna know if some wild bettas have a white or really metallic blue rim on their tail fin. The hotel also has 100s of cattapa trees everywhere.
