i have a one gal tank with one male betta living in it. both of my plants are fake at the moment, and i want to get him at least one small real one. since my tank is so small, i need a plant that stays small.
keep in mind i only have the white led light that the tank came with, so i’m not even sure if it’s possible for me to grow plants at the moment until i get a better set up.

Anubias is one of the few plant that I can keep alive it doesn’t need fancy lights or fertilizer it basically needs nothing just some light

The only downside is it can’t be planted into the gravel or sand it will die, you can attach it to a decoration or a rock though!

Hopefully someone else can help us both with easy plant! I kill 80% of plants 😂

The roots can be pushed under the gravel and will spread out if it's happy. It's the rhizome (the trunk-looking part) that shouldn't be buried. All my Anubias get the roots planted and do well. If the roots are very short I place a stone over them (so it doesnt float) until they start to grow down.

You could also get an easy fast growing plant like watersprite or hornwort and just give it a haircut every few weeks.

I love that look! It’s very inspiring :giggle:
You could look into pennywort if you want something growing in the water column! It grows fast from my experience, but it’s super easy to trim to whatever size you’d want. In the picture, it’s the clover-looking plant (please excuse the crazy roots above it, those are from water lettuce - which are also fun to grow!)

Very easy to grow in any lighting situation!

A Java leaf that is dying will usually put out baby plants like this, but are your leaves dying quickly? Or is this over the span of a couple months? Weeks? I can’t tell if the Java is planted in the sand, but if it is you’ll want to attach it to one of those pretty rocks instead!

Otherwise, Java ferns usually melt like this because of a lack of nutrients or too much light (which I don’t think is your case.)

Or, if these were bought from petco/petsmart from the tubes, sometimes the original leaves will melt but the new ones or the babies will grow happily. It’s like the old leaves couldn’t adjust to your water, but the new ones will.

Hopefully that provides some insight!
